Commusoft vs ProTakip: Why Carpet Cleaners Choose ProTakip

Commusoft vs ProTakip for carpet, rug and upholstery cleaners: what each really costs, how the apps compare, what reviewers report, and why small cleaning teams choose ProTakip. Data as of September 2026. ProTakip: $20 a month, unlimited users, first three months free.

Our team has built software for carpet-cleaning businesses for 22 years. Before smartphones existed, we put carpet-cleaning software on bank POS terminals so crews could take an order and print a receipt for the customer at the door. Today the same team ships ProTakip: one app for Android, iPhone and the web, made for carpet, rug and upholstery cleaners. That is the lens for this Commusoft vs ProTakip comparison. ProTakip is carpet cleaning software and cleaning business software: order, customer and payment tracking for carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning businesses, also used by dry cleaners and home and office cleaning teams.

Commusoft is a UK job-management platform for plumbing, heating and electrical companies, sold per user with prices quoted only after a sales demo.

The decisive difference for a cleaning business is simple: Commusoft charges for every login and does not publish the figure until you have sat through a demo, while ProTakip is one flat fee of $20 a month with unlimited users, no annual contract and the first three months free. All data here was collected on 27 September 2026 from Commusoft's Google Play and App Store listings, a sample of 95 Google Play reviews, and ProTakip's own public store listings. If you are still building a shortlist, our guide on how to choose carpet cleaning software is a useful companion.

What Commusoft offers

Commusoft is job-management software for UK plumbing, heating and electrical companies. It bundles service-contract management, certificates, an engineer diary, engineer mobile apps and a customer portal, as described on the Commusoft website. It is sold as a per-user subscription, with no free plan, a "free trial" button that leads to a scheduled call rather than a self-serve trial, and prices quoted after a demo.

What Commusoft really costs in 2026

As published in September 2026, Commusoft does not list any prices. You cannot see what you will pay until you have booked a demo and received a quote. The subscription is per user, so every engineer or office login is another line on the bill, every month. Commusoft publishes no price; third-party listings report about £59 per user a month (Capterra UK, September 2026), a reported figure rather than a vendor-confirmed one, which is £708 a year per licence.

What that means in cash terms: your yearly cost is the quoted per-user price multiplied by twelve months and by the number of people who need the app. Commusoft's plans page states that standard plans run on a 12-month contract that renews annually and that onboarding is "essential, not optional", but the onboarding fee and the cost of extras such as SMS are not published, so each of those is a question you have to ask before you can even compare totals.

Take a typical small carpet-cleaning business: the owner plus four field staff — two drivers, a wash-bay helper and someone on pickups. On a per-user model that is five paid logins. The year-one total is five times the per-user quote, times twelve, plus whatever onboarding and extras the quote adds — at the reported £59 per user, about £3,540 for the year, committed for 12 months. Hire a sixth person for the busy season and the bill rises again. And until the quote arrives, you cannot put that number next to anything else.

On ProTakip the same five-person team pays one flat fee of $20 a month ($240 a year). Unlimited users are included, so the sixth, seventh and eighth person cost nothing extra. There is no annual contract, no setup fee, and the first three months cost nothing, with no card needed to start. Current prices are on the ProTakip download page. Our carpet cleaning pricing guide covers the other side of the equation: what you charge your own customers.

What Commusoft users complain about

In our sample of 95 Google Play reviews, 54 were five stars and 27 were one star, a polarised picture. The largest complaint theme, appearing in 19 reviews, was crashes and bugs. Reviewers describe the app freezing, a black screen when opening customer data after an update, and job information being lost.

"Once i click on customers data i get a black screen and then it kicks me out of the app" — Google Play review

The second theme is sync between the office and the engineer's phone. Several reviewers say jobs booked in the office did not appear on engineers' phones, and one reports that a job report did not save when the office moved an appointment in the diary. For a field business, that is the kind of issue that costs a visit.

"This version has serious issues syncing between the office and phone, to the extent that we are now missing jobs" — Google Play review

Other reviewers dislike a recent layout change, describing endless scrolling on a phone and the loss of a weekly diary view, and one daily user says certificates, despite being central to the product, are awkward to work with:

"Far too restrictive in it's use and Certificates are poorly structured." — Google Play review

Two further points are worth weighing. Commusoft's developer replied to about 13% of the reviews we sampled, so many public complaints go unanswered. And the iPhone app had only 6 ratings in September 2026, so there is little public evidence about the iOS experience.

Why carpet cleaners choose ProTakip

22 years of carpet cleaning, nothing else. ProTakip is not a general job-management tool with a carpet-cleaning page added for marketing. Our team has built software for carpet-cleaning businesses for 22 years, from bank POS terminals that printed receipts at the door to today's third-generation app. Every screen follows the way a rug actually moves through your business: received, in wash, ready, out for delivery, delivered, with pickup and delivery lists and an "all operations" board. You price per square metre or per item from your own price lists, and add extra services and quotes in the same place.

The same full app on every phone. Android, iPhone and the web run one codebase, and every platform gets the same version on the same day. The owner on an iPhone, the driver on a budget Android and the office on a laptop all see the same features. There is no cut-down "engineer app".

Proof at the door. Take photos of each rug or sofa at pickup, so a damage dispute ends with a picture instead of an argument. Print a QR label for every item, showing its place in the order ("3 / 7"), and a receipt for the customer, on a Bluetooth thermal printer straight from the phone.

Calls answered with the order already on screen. With ProTakip's Caller ID on Android, a card appears before the phone rings showing the caller's name, address, balance and open orders, even with no signal, because the customer list lives on the phone. In the office the same card comes through a USB caller-ID device or a cloud switchboard.

Customers updated without you lifting a finger. ProTakip sends automatic SMS and WhatsApp messages at every order stage, including to international customers, and each customer gets a tracking link. Most "is my rug ready?" calls simply stop. A WhatsApp Business inbox sits inside the app; see our guide to customer notifications over WhatsApp.

Faster delivery days. ProTakip optimises the delivery route automatically, shows it on a map with navigation, and tracks your vans by GPS. Read how it works in delivery scheduling and route planning.

Head-to-head: the five differences that decide it

ProTakip comes out ahead on each of the five points below for a small carpet-cleaning business; each one ends with what it means for your crew.

1. Unpublished per-user quotes versus one flat price

Commusoft charges per user and does not publish prices, so you learn your cost only after a demo, and it rises with every hire. ProTakip charges one flat monthly fee with unlimited users and no setup fee. The consequence: you give a login to the part-time driver, the wash-bay helper and whoever does the books without asking whether each seat is worth paying for.

2. Mobile experience and platform parity

Commusoft's Android app shows 4.6 on the US Google Play store and 3.6 from 133 ratings on the UK store in September 2026, and the sampled reviews point to crashes, sync gaps between office and phone and a disliked layout change, and its iPhone app has only 6 ratings. ProTakip ships the same version on Android, iPhone and web on the same day and is rated 5.0 and 4.98.

3. Contracts, commitment and your data

Commusoft's standard plans are sold on a 12-month contract that renews annually (Commusoft plans page, September 2026); month-to-month licences exist only as add-ons on top of a contracted plan. ProTakip has no annual contract, the first three months are free with no credit card, and your data stays yours. You stay because the app works, not because a contract says so.

4. Customer notifications and phone calls

SMS and WhatsApp capabilities for Commusoft were not verified in our data. ProTakip sends automatic SMS and WhatsApp messages at each order stage, gives customers a tracking link, and shows caller details through Caller ID that works offline on Android. For a cleaner, whose customers mostly call to ask "is my rug ready?", that means fewer calls, and the calls you do get are answered with the order already on screen.

5. Built for rugs in a process, not engineers on a diary

Commusoft is shaped for heating, plumbing and electrical work: service contracts, certificates, engineer diaries. ProTakip is shaped by 22 years of carpet cleaning: pickup, wash, ready, delivery, with square-metre pricing, photos at pickup and QR labels on every item.

Why ProTakip is the best Commusoft alternative for a small carpet-cleaning business

ProTakip is carpet cleaning software and cleaning business software for one-to-fifteen-person teams; this is why it is the best Commusoft alternative for that business.

If you clean carpets, rugs or upholstery, or run a dry-cleaning or home-cleaning team of one to fifteen people, ProTakip is built for exactly the day you have. We have spent 22 years on this one trade. Every rug is tracked from the moment it leaves the customer's floor to the moment it comes home, with a photo, a QR label and a receipt printed at the door.

The money is simpler too. One flat fee covers everyone: the owner, the drivers, the wash bay and the office. You never do seat arithmetic before hiring, you sign no annual contract, and you do not wait for a sales quote to find out what the year will cost.

Your customers feel the difference. They get SMS and WhatsApp updates at every stage and a link to follow their order, and when they call, your Android phone shows who they are, what they owe and which orders are open before you pick up, even in a basement with no signal.

And you are never alone with it. We move your data across for free, live people answer in the app, the app speaks 26 languages, and the ratings on both stores show how owners feel after using it. Start with three free months, no card, and judge it on your own jobs. For more comparisons read BigChange vs ProTakip and Tradify vs ProTakip, or see all comparisons.

A note from the founder. We built ProTakip for carpet-cleaning owners tired of paying for every new hire and fighting menus made for other trades. No sales pitch: use it free for three months with your whole team, no card needed. If it works for you, it is $20 a month. If it doesn't, you leave, and your data is yours.

Start free for three months, no card required: download ProTakip and run your next week of orders on it — the same full app on Android, iPhone and web, unlimited users, no contract.

Switching from Commusoft to ProTakip without losing history

You do not have to rebuild anything by hand. Send us your export and the ProTakip team imports your customers and order history for free, so your records are waiting when you log in. Then run both systems side by side for two weeks: finish existing work in Commusoft while every new order goes through ProTakip. When your team is comfortable, cancel the old subscription. Because the first three months are free and there is no contract, the trial costs you nothing. Before you start, ask Commusoft how to export your data and check your notice period. Our guide to switching software and migrating data walks through each step.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Commusoft cost compared with ProTakip?

As of September 2026 Commusoft does not publish prices; plans are per user and quoted after a demo, so you cannot see your yearly cost before a sales conversation, and it grows with every engineer or office user you add. ProTakip is one flat subscription of $20 a month ($240 a year) with unlimited users, all features included, no annual contract and no setup fee, and the first three months are free with no credit card.

Is Commusoft or ProTakip better for carpet and rug cleaning?

ProTakip. First, it is built for carpet and upholstery cleaning by a team that has written software for carpet cleaners for 22 years: the order pipeline follows pickup, wash, ready and delivery, you price per square metre or per item, and you print QR labels and receipts on a Bluetooth printer at the door. Second, one flat fee covers unlimited users with no contract, so every driver and wash-bay helper gets the full app on Android or iPhone. Commusoft is designed around plumbing, heating and electrical engineers.

Does Commusoft handle certificates and service contracts?

Yes. Commusoft is built for UK plumbing, heating and electrical firms, and certificates and service-contract management are central to it; reviewers mention working with certificates daily, though one called them poorly structured. A carpet or upholstery cleaner does not need gas certificates: you need to know where every rug is, what it costs and when it goes home, and that is exactly the workflow ProTakip is built around.

Can I move my customer data from Commusoft to ProTakip?

Yes. The ProTakip team handles data migration for free, including customer lists and orders, so you do not rebuild your database by hand. Because the first three months are free and there is no contract, you can run both systems side by side on real jobs for a couple of weeks and cancel Commusoft only when your team is settled in ProTakip.

What do Commusoft reviews say about the mobile app?

Commusoft's Android app was rated 4.6 on the US Google Play store and 3.6 from 133 ratings on the UK store in September 2026, and its iPhone app 4.5 from only 6 ratings. In our sample of 95 Play reviews, 54 gave five stars and 27 gave one. Complaints focus on crashes, office-to-phone sync problems and a recent layout change, and the developer replied to about 13% of sampled reviews. ProTakip is rated 5.0 on Google Play and 4.98 on the App Store, and the developer replies to about 96% of Play reviews.

Commusoft is a trademark of its respective owner. ProTakip is not affiliated with or endorsed by Commusoft. Competitor pricing and ratings are as published on the vendor's website or app stores on 27 September 2026 and may change.
